DESCRIPTION:F-1 The Movie \nWe will be attending the movie as a NBCC event on the afternoon of Monday\, July 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Landmark Cinemas at the Pen Centre in St. Catharines. (Mondays are seniors days with\na 20% discount on tickets and concessions). Reserved seating tickets can be purchased in\nadvance starting July 2 on line at (https://www.landmarkcinemas.com/showtimes/st-catharines-pen-centre).\nThe movie runs for 155 minutes!!\, \nThis movie was in production for over two years and had a budget of over US$300M. In it\,\nBrad Pitt plays a has-been racer-for-hire 30 years past his prime and past a career ending F1\ncrash. He has been offered a seat in a start-up team to have another go at it. \nFilmed at live Gran Prix events in 2023 and 2024 involving all 10 actual F1 teams and their\ndrivers\, the tracks seen in the film include Silverstone\, the Hungaroring\, Spa\, Suzuka and Abu\nDhabi. \nToto Wolff and Mercedes Applied Science modified six F2 racing cars to look like F1 cars and\nto be capable of carrying the drivers and 60 pounds of special film camera equipment to\nspeeds in excess of 180 miles per hour. Pitt and co-star Idris trained for this task under the\ntutelage of stunt drivers Luciano Bachata (also a former F1 driver)\, Craig Dolby and Duncan\nTappy at Winfield Racing School\, Paul Ricard. \nMeet\, Eat ‘n Go \nWe are also combining this movie with dinner after at Kelsey’s (https://www.kelseys.ca/en/\nlocations/on/st.-catharines/221-glendale-ave)\, also located at the Pen Centre so we will not\nneed a map or directions. (Kelsey’s is on the south end of the Pen property adjacent to Glendale Avenue).
