In The Beginning
As many of you are aware, for an idea or a project to succeed requires several things occurring in a timely and sequential fashion. The NBCC is the result of one of those initiatives where the important factors did fall into place at the right time, in the right sequence.

Sometimes, something magical happens and this is one of these times...

SUMMER 2001

A group of British automotive faithful gathered together at 'SueÕs' house (last name still unknown) for the inaugural get-together to discuss the possibility of a British car club in the Niagara Peninsula. 'The Group of Six,' included Sue, Tom Haines, Ian Young, Alan Munro, Kevin (?), and Peter Gordon. The group had the audacity to believe that there was such a need!
Shortly thereafter a meeting was held at Sweeney ToddÕs, a local watering hole in St. Catharines, and these are the notes of the original British Car Club of Niagara:

---And so it all began.

The Club Emblem

The new Niagara British Car Club required a symbol to rally about. Something a member could feel loyalty to, as well as, ownership in. To that end, the symbol of the Niagara British Car Club was created in October 2001. As the 'rolling wheel' evolved, the following design factors, in no particular order, were taken into account,
-Some older British autos have wire wheels.
-This is a Canadian club.
-This is an all-marque British car club.
- Niagara Falls should be represented in the symbol.
-Red, white and blue are the colours of the British Union Jack.

The emblem that resulted, symbolizes the following.

Embossed on the tire attached to a wire wheel of an older British auto is placed the full name of our club. To differentiate 'Niagara' from our American neighbours, two Canadian Maple leafs are used to balance the wording.
The red, white and blue of the British Union Jack flow from the far right, representing the Niagara River. This then cascades over the wheel, symbolizing the Rainbow Falls of Niagara, to boil up in a stylized ending at the lower left.
A side note: Those of us that remember the band 'The Grateful Dead,' may recognize a certain styling resemblance of the flowing tail at the end of our symbol to that of the bandÕs ÒKeep-on-truckingÓ symbol.

The Club Motto

(Keeping British Cars aliveÉand Well)

The motto, the result of a brainstorming session by several of the clubÕs early members, reflects two major components of a successful car club, a strong social aspect, as well as, an equally strong technical aspect.
The technical portion attempts to assist individuals in keeping their cars alive. With the car both aliveÉ and well, it provides an opportunity for a social gathering where all members can benefit from the camaraderie of owning and operating a British automobile.
